Bio

Marlon Boarnet is Professor of Planning, Policy, and Design and Economics at the University of California, Irvine. His research interests include transportation policy, local economic development, intrametropolitan population and employment settlement patterns, urban planning and health. Dr. Boarnet is co-author of the book, Travel by Design: The Influence of Urban Form on Travel. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council Committee on Relationships Among Development Patterns, Vehicle Miles Traveled, and Energy Consumption. He currently serves as managing co-editor of the Journal of Regional Science, and is an editorial board member of the Papers in Regional Science, the Journal of the American Planning Association, the Journal of Planning Literature, and the Journal of Transport and Land Use. Professor Boarnet received Ph.D, M.PA., and M.A. degrees from Princeton, and a B.A. from Rice University.
