Bio

Dr. Stoner received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in 1966. He attended Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and served in various ships in the Pacific Fleet from 1966-1970. He received his Masters from the University of Iowa in Urban and Regional Planning in 1972 and his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Civil Engineering in 1977. He is currently a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He served as a researcher in the Public Policy Center and associate director of the Center for Computer Aided Design. He directed the development of the Iowa Driving Simulator and co-authored the proposal for the National Advanced Driving Simulator Project. He has had the good fortune to work on numerous international research projects and collaborate with many interesting and fun-loving researchers, including David Forkenbrock.
