Bio

Fred Boehmke is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Iowa and a member of the new Iowa Social Science Research Center. From 2005-2007 he was the Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Health Policy Research at the University of Michigan. Professor Boehmke's research focuses on the many consequences—intended and unintended—of direct democracy on interest groups. He is the author of The Indirect Effect of Direct Legislation: How Institutions Shape Interest Group Systems. In general, he likes to develop and test empirical and formal models of political phenomena.
