James Wo Co-Authors Study on Parking Citations

Body

James Wo, senior research fellow in the Crime and Justice Policy Research Program, co-authored a study exploring whether spatial distribution of parking citations calls socioeconomic equity into question.  To assess this, Wo and his co-authors collected data on neighborhoods across San Francisco, California.

The researchers found that while parking citations for nonwhite ethnicities are not significantly higher than parking citations for whites, low-income neighborhoods did have a higher rate of citations in comparison to their high-income counterparts.  They also determined that ethnicity is a determinant of neighborhood income.  More information here.
