Damiano Discusses Inflation Reduction Act on River to River
PPC Director Peter Damiano was featured as a guest speaker on Iowa Public Radio's "River to River" show on Friday, August 19. He spoke about several aspects of the Inflation Reduction Act, which became law on August 16, and its effects on the healthcare industry.
Damiano noted a major change resulting from the bill is the potential for a drastic culture change in the world of healthcare due to the "trickle down" nature of policy that begins in Medicare and over time carries over into private insurance providers. He also touched on other aspects of the bill including its efforts to continue shrinking out of pocket costs for seniors in Medicare, its drug price negotiation aspect, and its ability to address inflation by penalizing companies if they're prices increase faster than the rate of inflation.
